Commission painting of Pewley Down, Guildford

Commission Process
Step 1:
Initial conversation with Sarah – Share your vision - Which view holds your story?
Why is it special to you? Which colours do you love and what mood would you like to capture?
Do you have a painting size and particular hanging space in mind?
Step 2:
Send over photographs of your room setting and your favourite landscape, walk or view.
Step 3:
A quotation is emailed out.
Step 4:
Place your booking. At this stage a 20% non-fundable deposit will be required.
Step 5:
Materials for your painting will be ordered in.
If possible, Sarah will walk the landscape and document her visit with photographs/film to use as an aide memoire once back in the studio.
Step 6:
You will be invited to Sarah’s studio to view your painting when it is nearing completion.
If an in-person visit is not possible, then Sarah will send over video footage for your approval.
Step 7:
If you’ve requested any small adjustments, these will be made and the painting will be finished.
Step 8:
A final review of your masterpiece before 3 coats of UV Satin varnish and hanging fixings are applied. Your painting will be signed by Sarah on the reverse.
Step 9:
Remainder of the balance to be paid.
Step 10:
Commission collected or delivered if you live locally.
Deposit
I want you to love and cherish your painting!
Commissioning a painting should be fun and exciting and equally, I will approach the creative process with playfulness and curiosity.
If you would like to proceed, then I will ask for a 20% non-refundable deposit.
In the unlikely event that you aren't 100% satisfied, then there will be no pressure to buy at the end. I will however keep the deposit to recoup some of my material/labour costs.
Pricing
The price depends on the size and type of surface you choose. For example, you could choose a canvas or a wooden panel. Commissions cost approximately 10% more than my originals.
Time Scale
Commission paintings take between 6 - 8 weeks to create. On booking, you will be allocated a place on the commissions Waitlist and a start date will be agreed with Sarah.
Setting
Photographs of the room/space in which you intend to hang your painting are most welcome.
Some clients send across swatches of soft furnishing fabrics, wallpaper and wall colour paint charts too.
