Lowena
150cm x 100cm
'Lowena' is the
Cornish word for
joy; happiness; bliss.
I absolutely loved painting this 1.5 metre by 1 metre canvas.
I really got into the zone and I think it shows. My visual language shifted. This painting is more lyrical, musical even, than before.
The painting is less concerned with realistic representation and more about conveying how I feel when walking the landscape. St Just in Cornwall is such a special place. The coastal path was flanked with yellow gorse and mauve heathers. These rich and vibrant colours were the basis of my palette.
Lowena is bursting with energy and optimism.

Elemental Echoes
150cm x 100cm
The title 'Elemental Echoes' refers to the elemental life force and ever changing weather conditions evident along the dramatic Cornish coastline.
The word 'Echoes' offers a nod to the many artists who have been drawn by the quality of light to live and work in St Ives. Some of my favourite artists from the region include Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Peter Lanyon and John Wells.
Acrylic and spray paint on canvas.
£1650 unframed

Where Sea Meets Land
Close to Botallack Mine, St Just in Cornwall, you get the most stunning 180 degree view of the ocean. At the cliff edge you find lots of low lying wildflowers and brightly coloured vegetation. On the day that I walked the coastal path the sea was a vivid turquoise colour. I spotted sea thrift, campion, thistles, heather and grasses.
This painting is full of the energy of the sun.
Acrylic and spray paint on a cradled wooden panel.
