'Hollyhocks' is a unique en plein air painting. It was created whilst painting the summer border at Limnerslease House which is part of the Watts Gallery estate. As part of a charitable event to help raise money for GUTS bowel cancer charity, I spent the day at the gallery as one of their visiting artists.
The border was bursting with vitality - hollyhocks, kniphofia, narcissus, torch lily, thistles and more.
For me, the hollyhocks were the star of the show and they led me to my painting spot.
This painting is all about high summer and vivacity.
Acrylic, acrylic spray paint and Caran d'ache neocolour on wood.
