Vermillion orange

I am currently working on a series of small scale paintings. Mostly 30cm x 30cm, they are a mixture of acrylic and ink on canvas or cradled wooden panels. The wooden panels are smooth and the paint certainly slides around more! The beauty of a wooden panel is the option to sand back and also wipe back wet paint to create different surface textures. I like the immediacy of working on a smaller scale and find that I work in the same way as I do in a sketchpad. The paintings are loose and you will see flourishes of quick line work which I have applied with inks. I seem to be drawn to vermillion and dark brown-black ink at the moment. It seems that orange is never far from my side. I love the energy it brings.
