Ceoruleum blue

Coeruleum blue has been something of a constant in my latest paintings.

I seem to be magnetically drawn to this turquoise, azure like colour.

It comes into play both when painting seascapes and in the skies of my Surrey Hills landscapes.

The seascape featured here is titled 'Wide Awake' and is inspired by St Ives in Cornwall. My intention with this painting is to energise. I worked with loose, gestural marks and a large brush to capture the elemental force and invigorating energy of the sea.

The landscape painting (along with a photograph showing close-up details ) is titled

'Making Tracks'. This painting is inspired by walking the muddy fields beneath The Chantries woodland in Shalford near Guildford. The bright blue sky reminds me of my walk there on Christmas eve which was a remarkably bright and sunny afternoon.

'Wide Awake' - 80cm x 80cm, £700

'Making Tracks' - 100cm x 100cm, £900
