Denim Skies

I have a number of NEW PAINTINGS to share with you!

'Denim Skies' is a 70cm x 70cm painting inspired by walking and sketching en plein air in St Ives, Cornwall. The view is from the foot of Pendinas (known locally as 'the island'), looking across to Porthmeor beach and beyond. It's a painting packed with colour and texture. I used a mix of materials including acrylic, spray paint and inks to create this energetic, light and airy painting.

'Chord' is a painting inspired by Dunster beach in Somerset. The natural landscape always strikes a chord with me. I find it a constant draw and a source of joy. It's where I find my inner harmony. 'Chord' is a large scale painting measuring 100cm x 100cm. It's packed with lots of vibrant colours and textures. I used acrylic, spray paint and a small amount of collage and oil pastel to create this uplifting seascape.

'Bracken' was inspired by walking Abinger Common and the surrounding woodland. My colour palette took influence from the rich carpet of leaves on the woodland floor and lichen on

fallen tree branches. It's more subdued and paired back compared to other works and is incredibly atmospheric. 'Bracken' measures 70cm x 70cm and is painted with acrylic on canvas.

'Wide Awake' is an invigorating seascape inspired by St Ives in Cornwall. I chose the title 'Wide Awake' as I feel energised and re-vitalised when I spend time down by the sea. Think crashing waves, sea spray and salty air. This painting measures 80cm x 80cm and incorporates specialist modelling paste under areas of the painting to create textural interest and relief.

All of these paintings have been varnished, wired ready for hanging and released for sale.

My next public exhibition is in June when I open my studio to visitors as part of the annual Surrey Artist Open Studios event. My studio will be open on 5/6 June and 12/13 June 11-5pm.

I hope to see you then.

If you would like to view any off these works in private before the event then please email sarah@sjcoxart.co.uk

Stay safe and well
